Randy, I’m not sure what you seemed to be bemoaning. Naturally not everyone is cut out to be a poet. But what you have said about your story it got my interest. I think you might have something there, just needs more work and attention… maybe to stew in your mind for a while. But i think you should stick with it.

eFiction 3 months, 2 weeks agoI just finished proofing my memoir Ice Cream Camelot and sent it back to my publisher. It should be an e book next week and a paperback soon after. Now I can get back to my first love, fiction and Fantastic Literature, the kind that makes you go, “hummm…” To that end I have started a new short story. I was inspired at a club a couple of weeks…[Read more]

Crank UP sounds like a great concept. Sounds like something Philip K Dick might have done.

eScifi 4 months agoHello and thanks for welcoming me into your group. While I have always loved the short story form and have been writing them for what seems like my entire life, I simply hate the genre and category labels imposed by agents and publishers. Don’t get me wrong, I love good sci-fi. But most all of my work, including my first novel Elysian Dreams is…[Read more]

I’m having trouble labeling my current project as well. It is a mixture of fantasy, horror, and sci-fi. It was also suggested to me that I write in a style for the YA group, so I’m a bit confused on that as well. I think that mature adults would enjoy this story as well. I agree with you, I don’t want to alienate any select group of potential…[Read more]

Lisa, first of all you know I sympathize, labeling a book is tricky. It sounds to me that your book falls into literary fiction, depending of course on how much of it really is fantasy, sci-fi, etc. Literary fiction is usually plot driven with strong characters and character development. Horror can be literary: Dracula, the works of Poe, etc. Most…[Read more]

Thanks for the input; it is much appreciated and good advice. I have two blogs where I post free stories: http://www.imaginationalley.wordpress.com and

I’ve written two romance with steamy tones to it, however I love stories such as LOTR, and Harry Potter as does my seven year old so I decided to stir away…[Read more]

eFiction 4 months agoHello to all and thanks for accepting me. With my novel Elysian Dreams on the shelf and my memoir Ice Cream Camelot due out any day, I have finally been able to return to my short story collection of Fantastic Literature. My publisher is very interested, but I have to agree, this format does seem to be the future of the short story. I have already…[Read more]

Hello group. I have recently started a separate blog just for my poetry. The link is below. While I have been involved with my published novel and memoir plus working on a collection of short stories as of late, I still often return to poetry. One of my early poems The 12th Of Never was my first publication, appearing in a national anthology,…[Read more]
