“Synchronicity” by A.J. Huffman

Lying on the cool sand, just before
dawn, I close my eyes, listen
to the ocean breathe. I imagine
the waves as Neptune’s great chest
rising and falling in subtle rhythm.
Instinctively, my chest imitates the motion.
For a few moments, we are one body,
holding time between our lips, a touchless kiss.
Queen breaks from King as the sun crests,
and light-hearted clouds begin
surfing illuminated sky.
