Darren Young was born in 1981 and grew up in the rural Midwest. He earned a Master of Science from Arizona State University. He currently lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. Find more from Darren Young here: http://dlyoung5.wix.com/darrenlyoung

Phillip is an Oregon native and military veteran. Currently, he is a senior at University of Oregon, where he is immersed in the world of English Literature. His short story, “The Loneliest Road,” received the Louise McColl Award for Literary Excellence, and has been published in Portals Literary Magazine and Unbound Literary Journal. His poem, “The Cotton Threaded Manacles of Legal Tender,” was published in the inaugural issue of The Pass in Review, and he has also had a small collection of poems published in FIVE Poetry.

Greg Forrest lives in Texas with his family and too many cats. “Hero, Hero” is his third story for Heater. He co-hosts The Workprint podcast at southboundcinema.com, and is the voice behind the viral video, “Glenn Danzig Grocery Shopping List.” Follow Greg on Twitter at @southboundcine.

CJ Friend is the author of several fiction and nonfiction publications and short stories. His story, “Fathers as Boys,” was a finalist for the 2014 VanderMey Nonfiction prize. He enjoys all manner of sports, music, and the wonder of creation. He also has a wanderlust that refuses to be satisfied, and as a result has lived in Europe for over 15 years.
